Descended from ancestors who lived 300 million years ago, the dragonfly Dactyl was engineered for its precision sight and flight. Their compound eyes, provide 30,000 facets of visual information and with 360-degree vision, with just one blind spot directly behind them. They have 30 different visual opsins and can see ultraviolet on top of blue, green and red. Drone technology took many cues from the dragonfly and similarly the Dragonfly Dactyl is ideally suited to targeted surveillance in highly populated environments. They were originally developed for military action and like the dragonfly they can coordinate aerial ambushes with precision calculation of the speed and trajectory of their target, adjust their flight accordingly and they have up to a 97% success rate when hunting. They can fly in any direction, their two sets of wings work independently with separate muscles in the thorax, enabling superior agility in the air with precise flight manoeuvres including sideways and backward, as well as hover skills. They have incredible endurance and like the globe skimmer dragonfly, they can fly for distances of 11,000 miles.
