The Fox Dactyl

The Fox Dactyl has been genetically modified to take on the attributes of the fox with excellent eyesight and hearing. Their eyes have been modified with an additional layer called the tapetum lucidum which lies under a light sensitive layer to reflect the light, and this intensifies the light sensitivity of the eyes. Their ears can pick up low frequencies, so that they can hear insects digging underground. Like the fox they use the Earth's magnetic field for precision hunting, where they can calculate the direction of travel and exact location of prey. The sensitivity of their senses and precision skills makes them highly suited to bounty hunting. Like the fox they are highly adaptable to country and urban living, and they can burrow underground to make dens, often in ingenious places to hide in plain sight. They are largely solitary but can gather in small groups referred to as a skulk. Often seen as illusive solitary characters, they have a playful nature and enjoy the company of others. They are omnivores and eat a varied diet of berries, fruit and small mammals as well as insects. As a natural predator they offer farmers a sustainable way to manage pests.
